This is My Journey

Left Marketing for Information Systems

I was pursuing B.A. Business Administration degree at the M.G. Foster School of Business University of Washington. My focus was Marketing. I always had a knack for creativity. Knew nothing about tech and didn't care to know. After taking some math and tech classes, I took a leap and changed my focus to Information Systems. I was incredibly scared I will fail, but I jumped into it head first. Never regretted it.

Kicked-off my career in tech

First job in the tech industry. Ironically, started on my birthday! I joined Microsoft's CSS team through Wimmer Solutions as a support engineer, where I got to respond to live incidents and put some the tech skills I’ve learned at school to work. Between school, work, homework and extracurricular activities, I had no days off for a whole year. Not a single day off, not even on holidays, because my team was responding to incidents 24/7.

Joined the KPMG Cyber Security Practice

Upon UW graduation, I joined the Cyber Security practice of a KPMG. I loved consulting. It was fast-paced, challenging and it helped me accelerate my career through exposing me to a wide range of security domains through the global-scale projects I was working on. I was awarded National KPMG Advisory Chairman Award Winner for FY17 (out of 2,500+ nominees). Received an early promotion to people manager but resigned due to accepting an offer with Microsoft.

Passed the CISSP exam

Very early in my career in security, I passed the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) exam. I didn't officially get to become a true CISSP until 2018 as that's when I accrued enough work experience in the security field to claim this certification.

Became Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

Probably my favorite certification of all. I got to really get my hands dirty and break into systems in preparation for the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) exam. These skills came in very handy in one of my global projects at KPMG.

Joined Microsoft

I am loving the extraordinary, transformational and challenging initiatives I've been working on since I joined Microsoft. My focus at Microsoft has been in the GRC and Identity Engineering, but I am incredibly grateful to also have been involved in so many opportunities to contribute to projects outside of my core focus areas.

Started C# in .NET Core Certificate Program at the UW

Since I work directly with software engineers at Microsoft, delivering world-class identity management solutions, I decided I want to challenge myself further.
